6 OCT. 3, 2026 BLUE & GOLD ILLUSTRATED BY ERIC HANSEN Q uincy Faison coached his oldest son, Jordan, in football from the time the now-senior Notre Dame wide receiver was 6 years old through high school. Then Quincy nudged Jordan away from his dream and encouraged him to play lacrosse in college instead. That's the same Jordan Faison who's on track to be the leading Irish receiver for a sec- ond straight season. "This is one of those things that I feel real guilty about," Quincy said. "In my head, I thought his size was not a fit for college football. So, that's why we went the lacrosse route. 'Lacrosse can get you to a really good school. Play lacrosse for four years, get a good job.' "It wasn't until we were on a visit to Iowa, and they looked at him and were like, 'We like him.' And I made a joke to the coach, 'Yeah, he's going to grow. We like him how he is.' And then I'm like, 'You know what? Football is an option.'" Jordan Faison actually chose both sports, a lacrosse scholarship initially and a walk-on path for football. He re- cently became a one-sport athlete by choice when an NFL future started to look like a reality. "I could have almost ruined his life, because of my thought processes," Quincy said. "So I'm very, very happy that it turned out the way it did." And a lot of listeners and viewers are happy Quincy Faison is sharing those kinds of unfiltered insights as the fa- ther of two Notre Dame football players via the burgeoning "Two Sports Dads Podcast." FROM SPORTS DADS TO PODCAST HOSTS The podcast grew out of conversations between Quincy and Jeremy Bowen, the father of Notre Dame senior line- backer Drayk Bowen. The two teamed up roughly five months ago to venture into the podcast world and have been flying by the seat of their pants since. The show appears on YouTube, Spo- tify, Instagram, Facebook and other platforms. "Never thought we'd be in this po- sition. Ever," Jeremy said. "Quincy's outgoing. He's fun. He pushes me in uncomfortable directions, but I love it. And also, I am a very nervous guy. [Quincy] tells me, 'As long as we ain't pissing off Coach Free [Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman] and Notre Dame, we're good.'"
