BLUEGOLDONLINE.COM NOV. 14, 2026 5 CASE OF THE MISSING ISSUE Something happened to my copy of Volume 46, Issue 4. We will likely never know where it is or what happened to it. But are you able to please send me a replacement if any are still available? Tim Buckley Cincinnati Tim , we may not know every detail , but your photo gives us a pretty strong lead on a suspect! We'll check our back issues for a replacement to fill that gap in your collection. In the meantime, we appreciate your household's appetite for Notre Dame coverage. REPLAYS ON PEACOCK I've resigned myself to the fact that some Notre Dame games will be tele- vised only on Peacock. What I find frus- trating and infuriating is that when you watch a game replay, Peacock forces you to sit through innumerable and lengthy commercials, with no opportunity even to fast-forward through them. If it weren't for those commercials, I'd probably zip through each game a couple of times because I like to break down and analyze the plays in my ama- teurish fashion. I literally do not have the time to sit through what turns out to be four-hour marathons. Does Pete Bevacqua still have any pull at NBC and do you think he could pre- vail on the network to let us Notre Dame fanatics fast-forward through the com- mercials on Notre Dame replays? Edward J. Szewczyk East Alton, Ill. Edward, watching a replay shouldn't require the same time commitment as watching live, especially when you're re- turning to study particular plays. We can't speak to Bevacqua's influence over Peacock's advertising policies, but your request deserves consideration. Allowing viewers to fast-forward through com- mercials on replays would be a welcome convenience for subscribers — and a nice acknowledgment of the devoted fans paying to watch. FAN FORUM BE HEARD! Send your letters to: steve.downey@on3.com or mail to: Blue & Gold Illustrated, P. O. Box 2331, Durham, NC 27702 News of Notre Dame-Illinois football matchups in 2027 and 2028 drew mixed reactions on our message board at BlueandGold.com, with some fans welcoming the regional pairing and others wishing the Irish had landed a marquee opponent. Here's a sampling: Watasha12: Nice, I'm pumped to check out Champaign. NDfanLK: Is this the Purdue replacement? Pretty under- whelming TBH. RRH1: Great news. AllRoads: Would rather play Northwestern at this point. Illinois is an all-time bland brand. marcwithglasses: What a disappointment. Illinois? After hearing about the other big-name possibilities? Nemeth5: Boooooring. mgbirish: Lmaoooooo. Cool? Irishchef3: Being from Illinois, this schedule pairing always made sense to me. Iowa is another school that also makes sense geographically. Indiana makes the most sense, but Indiana apparently wants to schedule cream puffs instead. SolRosenberg: Meh. Purdue wasn't exciting, but this hardly feels like an improvement. CoopDog01: Meh, better than Purdue I suppose. Smpep: Disappointment? I'm doing freaking cartwheels. In a 24-team CFP, NEVER PLAY ANY TEAM WITH A PULSE. Play 12 tune-up games. Go 12-0. The season only starts in CFP. et1513: We can't beat BYU and you guys want to add Oregon to the sched- ule lol This is more our speed. The_Juniper_Run: I'm disappointed too. We finally had open dates in early September, which is when all the mar- quee programs want to play. This should have been an opportunity to add a blue blood. Irish Runt: The schedule change isn't anything to be doing backflips over, but this logic is a little flawed. If an opposing team has the opportunity to play us or BYU, wouldn't you consider ND the better team to have on the schedule even though we just lost to BYU? o_tivs31: Exhilarating. mpg: As a CHI resident I like this a lot as Illini alums are all over, but outside of this geography I can see how it would be uninspiring. Maloy 49: I like It since it's a new team for ND to play, at least in the last 60ish years. From that perspective it's an upgrade over Purdue. JOIN THE CONVERSATION AT BLUEANDGOLD.COM!
