The Survivor
Senior quarterback Tommy Rees
is back in the saddle again
I
By Lou Somogyi
f senior quarterback Tommy Rees
were a reality television show, he
surely would be "Survivor."
Every time Rees appears to be
on the cusp of getting voted off Notre
Dame's "quarterback island" by media
or the fandom, his ship comes in again.
The other quarterbacks during head
coach Brian Kelly's four-year reign
have included a couple of ballyhooed
five-star prospects (Dayne Crist and
Gunner Kiel), a quarterback with a
more famous pedigree (Nate Montana),
a Rees classmate with higher physical upside (Andrew Hendrix) and a
more legitimate dual threat (Everett
Golson, and maybe Malik Zaire down
the road).
Rees' 64.6 percent career completion rate ranks No. 1 on Notre Dame's all-time chart, ahead of Jimmy
Clausen's 62.6 percent from 2007-09.
