Fitting In Nicely Arkansas Transfer Brandon Mitchell Has Adjusted Well To A New Offense And A New Team N By Jacey Zembal C State fans won't have to worry about putting away their No. 8 jerseys just yet this fall. The transition from quarterback Mike Glennon to potential new signal-caller Brandon Mitchell — who will wear Glennon's No. 8 — has been one of the biggest storylines of the Wolfpack's fall camp this August. The 6-4, 239-pound Arkansas transfer arrived shortly after earning his undergraduate degree June 28, and promptly began working in earnest to win the starting quarterback position. His main competition was also a former transfer, redshirt junior Pete Thomas, who came from Colorado State during the summer of 2012. Learning another new offense — Mitchell is on his fourth college head coach and third different offense — seems like a daunting task, but he's willing to do whatever it takes to make his last year a successful one. "It's been pretty difficult, but that is what I signed up for and the reason I came here," Mitchell said. "I graduated and then started grad school as soon as I got here, and also to learn a thick playbook. "It's a simple playbook, but it is about being comfortable with it, and knowing exactly which concept is for which defense." Mitchell learned the ins and outs of quarterback play from former Arkansas head coach Bobby Petrino, who is now Mitchell's physical talent and natural ability to lead teammates were evident during practice in August. photo by ken martin September 2013  ■ 35 34-36.Brandon Mitchell.indd 35 8/23/13 2:59 PM
