■ football recruiting had 83 tackles, four interceptions and four fumble recoveries as a junior. NC State made the list of 10 schools for cornerback D'Cota Dixon from New Smyrna Beach (Fla.) High. Also in the mix are Auburn, Central Florida, Cincinnati, Illinois, Louisville, NC State, North Carolina, Vanderbilt, West Virginia and Wisconsin. "They have great coaches, and I like their defensive coordinator a lot," the 5-11, 180-pound Dixon said of NC State. "It's a great chance to play early." Rivals.com ranks Dixon as a three-star recruit and the No. 97 player in Florida. Louisville commit De'Eric Culver from Tallahassee (Fla.) Godby is one of two recruits at that school that may be on NC State's radar. Culver (6-0, 180 pounds) committed to Louisville in May, but has said he wants to use all of his official visits. He has indicated that State may receive one of them. Rivals.com lists Culver as a three-star recruit, the No. 62 player in Florida and the No. 41 corner in the nation. Also at Godby is 5-10, 205-pound safety Tony Fields, who is a three-star prospect, the No. 46 safety nationally and the No. 80 player in Florida. Updates on Field have been rare, but he has in the past listed a top two of Ole Miss and NC State. Georgia Tech, Indiana, Louisville, Michigan State, Mississippi State, Missouri and South Florida also have reportedly offered Fields. Cole from College Park (Ga.) Woodward Academy. State is also pursuing Rafael Gaglianone from Chattanooga (Tenn.) Baylor School. The native Brazilian earned an offer from NC State over the summer after participating at a kicking camp in Raleigh. Gaglianone is slated to officially visit NC State Oct. 11, the weekend the Pack hosts Syracuse. The Pack is Gaglianone's lone offer, but he also has admitted to holding out hope that LSU might offer. The Tigers, though, already have a verbal commitment from a senior placekicker — Cameron Gamble of Flower Mound (Texas) High. The 6-1, 225-pound Gaglianone was 12 of 15 on field goal attempts last season with a long of 51 yards. He also successfully made a 50-yarder and three more from longer than 40 yards.
