Under the Dome 1-6 By The Numbers Notre Dame's record in its last seven trips to Ann Arbor to play the University of Michigan, dating back to 1997, including losing the last three. The lone victory during that time was 17-10 against the No. 3-ranked Wolverines in Fighting Irish head coach Charlie Weis' second game at the helm in 2005. Nix moved up four spots to No. 3, behind South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney and Louisville quarterback Teddy Bridgewater. Tuitt elevated two spots from his No. 13 spot this spring. Ranked No. 14 was former Notre Dame defensive end Aaron Lynch, who transferred after his freshman season in 2011 to South Florida. Meanwhile, SI.com's "Big Board" by David Burke has Nix at No. 8 and Tuitt No. 26, with Lynch in between at No. 21. 4-1 Notre Dame's record against Michigan in night games. All four victories came at home (1982, 1988, 1990 and 2012), while the lone defeat occurred in Ann Arbor in 2011 (35-31) after squandering a 24-7 advantage entering the fourth quarter. 8 Defensive players at Notre Dame who started as freshmen in the season opener since 1972, the first year rookies could play. Outside linebacker Jaylon Smith was expected to become the ninth, versus Temple. He joins senior wideout TJ Jones and senior cornerback Bennett Jackson as the three captains in 2013. There were seven up until 1967, when linebacker Bob Olson (1967‑68) became the first two-time captain since Pat Filley in 1943-44. The most recent until Martin was outside linebacker Maurice Crum Jr. (2007‑08).
