fan forum would like convincingly to portray sanity. Acceptance doesn't come with six points, but we might at least consider it briefly. How do I know of this cure? Because I'm an alcoholic in active recovery. The delusion and fantasy and enraged entitlement to exceptions have been my story. My own insecurity and fear cause me to create and nurture an alternate reality in which the spotlight is always on me, and my feathers are perpetually fanned. I am No. 1! Though my humiliation was not on a national scale, it came at great cost. Accepting reality does not entail an acceptance speech. There is no trophy or ring or parade. No luck. Just life. There's no 12-step program to facilitate football titles. Notre Dame and its fan base need only recognize and admit the reality of their shortcomings, and finally realize that success is born out of consistency and honesty — both in football and in recovery. Renee Peggs South Bend, Ind. ND & ACC Go Together From The WebSite It rubbed many Notre Dame fans the wrong way to start No. 14 in the Associated Press poll, the lowest ever by a team that played in the BCS National Champiosnip Game from 1998-2012. Others understood: Idrink4nd: It just amazes me how much the national media just doesn't respect us. They talk about how Michigan and Ohio State are closing the gap with the $EC but no mention of us at all. Bkirkend: Bottom line is if we are consistently excellent on the field, media love won't matter. I love sports because the play on the field takes care of all the political BS. Leftcoastndfan: Bama spanked UM 41-14 and spanked ND 42-14. I don't see any gap closing there. Bballanj: Most people are not convinced Notre Dame is actually back. They see last year as an anomaly, a lucky season where all the calls and breaks went ND's way, and they want to see more success before they buy in. If we win another 10-plus games this year, I think you will see the perception start to turn. Regarding the "By The Numbers" feature in your preseason edition, I think Notre Dame actually has five top administrators currently in the ACC. Former baseball player and Notre Dame '78 grad Mike Bobinski is the new AD at Georgia Tech. He had been Xavier's ultra-successful AD for the last decade. Also, please do not forget ACC Commissioner Emeritus, Gene Corrigan, ND's former AD (1981-87). The ACC was absolutely the right choice for Notre Dame: excellent academic-athletic traditions and great cultural fit on so many levels, not to mention continuous media exposure on the entire Eastern seaboard. Go Irish! Beat B1G Ten! Mike Stenger '78 Via the Internet Mr. Stenger, you are correct. Georgia Tech hired Mike Bobinski this April. He also served as chair of the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Committee for the 2012-13 season.
