prep profiles Notre Dame In Top Five For Four-Star Tight End South Jordan, Utah, tight end Dalton Schultz plays like a lineman with his path-clearing blocks, but also hauls in first-down catches that make him a weapon in the passing game. That versatility has caught the attention of 25 Division I programs, all offering him before his senior season started. The 6-6, 235-pound prospect has narrowed his choices down to five schools — Notre Dame, Stanford, Utah, Oregon State and Washington. "I haven't visited Notre Dame, but it's probably the school I'm looking forward to the most," Schultz said. "It's a major program that is rich with tradition. I know they will be similar to Stanford, and the academics are really strong there. That will definitely be a school I visit before I make a decision." Although he hasn't decided on which Irish game he will attend, he has narrowed his choice to two matchups. "I'd love to get to the USC game in October, but I'm not sure if I can make that happen," he said. "I wouldn't mind catching the BYU game in November. "I could think of worse places to be for Thanksgiving." Schultz has said academics will play a key role in his decision, along with the history and tradition of the football program. Notre Dame already has a commitment from four-star tight end Nic Weishar and landed two four-star tight ends in 2012: Mike Heuerman and Durham Smythe. Schultz said he won't make a decision until after he makes his official visits. He plans to take one to Utah during the fall and will visit the other four schools as soon as his season ends. He said he wants to devote his time to his high school teammates and finish out a strong senior campaign. 247Sports ranks Schultz as the No. 2 player in Utah, the No. 5 tight end in the nation and the No. 188 prospect in the class of 2014. — Staci Gasser
