football recruiting ROUNDUP Recruiting Notes • Four-star safety Payton Hendrix of Dallas will be in South Bend for an official visit during the Notre Dame-USC game Oct. 19. He is listed as the No. 77 safety in the nation and the No. 119 player in Texas by 247Sports. • Four-star cornerback Nick Watkins of Dallas also has scheduled his Notre Dame official visit for Oct. 19 when the Irish plays host to USC. 247Sports ranks Watkins as the No. 25 cornerback in the country and the No. 34 player in Texas. • Fort Lauderdale, Fla., four-star wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie has narrowed his recruitment to three finalists: Notre Dame, Rutgers and West Virginia. He'll announce his decision Oct. 6. McKenzie is ranked as the No. 122 wide receiver in the country and the No. 128 recruit in Florida by 247Sports. • Olathe, Kan., four-star offensive tackle Braden Smith continues to list Notre Dame in his top five along with Alabama, Ohio State, TCU and Texas A&M. Look for him to take an official visit to South Bend this season.
