hoo's hot Recognizing the "Who's Hoo" in UVa athletics — Cavalier student-athletes, past, present and future who are making news around the world of sports. Jordan Allen ◆ Soccer The rookie midfielder from Rochester, N.Y., had a huge night in UVa's first win of the season Sept. 2, helping the 20th-ranked Cavaliers pull out a 2‑0 victory over No. 19 St. John's. He recorded a goal and an assist, and he also forced a penalty kick after drawing a foul in the box. Allen was ranked as the No. 3 recruit in the nation by College Soccer News and lived up to the hype early in the season, leading the team with four points through four contests. Elizabeth Brightwell ◆ Golf The fourth-year from Nellysford, Va., helped her squad open the fall season with a runner-up finish at Texas A&M's Mo-Morial Tournament Sept. 9-11 in Bryan, Texas. Brightwell finished in sixth place overall, just six shots out of first, thanks to a 3-under-par 69 during the final 18 holes that helped the Cavaliers finish 1-over for the round as a team. Her 3-over 219 for the three-round tournament marked the third top-10 outing of her career. Caleigh Foust ◆ Field Hockey The first-year forward was named the ACC Player of the Week Sept. 10 after a pair of three-goal performances. She notched her first collegiate hat trick in a 6‑1 win at Yale and followed with another in the Cavs' 5-3 victory over No. 8 Old Dominion. Foust was tied for 14th in the nation with an average of 2.8 points per contest as of midSeptember. Anthony Harris ◆ Football The third-year strong safety opened his season with a bang in the Cavs' 19-16 victory over BYU Aug. 31. Harris was named Walter Camp National Defensive Player of the Week after he totaled 11 tackles, one sack, an interception and a blocked punt in the contest. The blocked kick set up UVa's first touchdown, and the team scored the go-ahead touchdown the play after the interception. Harris also notched seven tackles in game two against Oregon Sept. 7. Haley Kole ◆ Volleyball The Cavaliers won back-to-back ACC Freshman of the Week honors for the first time in program history when Kole was given the honor Sept. 9, one week after classmate Jasmine Burton won the award. The outside hitter from Tallahassee, Fla., was named to the Pepperdine Invitational All-Tournament team Sept. 7 after she paced the team with 49 kills in the event and at least tied for the team lead in kills for all three matches.
