Under the Dome 2 By The Numbers Notre Dame alumni who coached against each other on Sept. 21, 2013, when Kansas' Charlie Weis (class of 1978) faced Louisiana Tech's Skip Holtz (class of 1986). It was believed to be the first time two Notre Dame graduates competed on opposite sidelines in college football since Nov. 6, 1955, when head coach Eddie Anderson's (class of 1922) Holy Cross Crusaders defeated head coach Hugh Devore's (class of 1934) Dayton Flyers. 3 Consecutive opposing quarterbacks who made or were expected to make their first career road start at Notre Dame Stadium: Temple's Connor Reilly, Michigan State's Connor Cook and Oklahoma's Blake Bell. That might be a first in Notre Dame's program history, although it would take extensive research to confirm it. 8 Red-zone touchdowns surrendered by Notre Dame's 2012 defense in the 33 times opponents reached or were inside the Irish 20-yard line during the 12-0 regular season. That ranked the Irish No. 1 nationally in that category. In the first three games of 2013, the Fighting Irish yielded eight red-zone touchdowns in only 11 tries, including 4 of 4 by Michigan (Sept. 7) and 3 of 4 by Purdue (Sept. 14). The downslide began in the BCS National Championship Game, when Alabama scored touchdowns on all five of its red-zone possessions. 11-23 Final record of the WNBA's Tulsa Shock featuring rookie guard Skylar Diggins, the No. 3 pick from Notre Dame in last spring's draft. Diggins lost more games in her rookie season than in her entire four years at Notre Dame when the Fighting Irish were 130‑20, with Final Four appearances each of the past three seasons. Diggins appeared in 32 games and led the Shock in assists with 3.8 per game. She was fifth in scoring with an average of 8.5 points per contest. 147.1 Yards rushing Notre Dame averaged in 2005 when it finished No. 9 in the final Associated Press poll. That was the lowest rushing output for the season by any of the 28 Fighting Irish teams that finished in the AP top 10. We bring that up only because after the first three games in 2013, Notre Dame was averaging 125.0 yards rushing per contest.
