Under the Dome ✦ Gimme Five In the Sept. 21 game against Michigan State, Notre Dame was aiming for its 10th consecutive victory on its home field. Believe it or not, that would make it only the fifth time the Fighting Irish won at least 10 straight games at Notre Dame Stadium since its opening in 1930. Entering the MSU contest, there was a five-way tie for fifth place with nine consecutive victories. Furthermore, the Irish have won more than 10 in a row at Notre Dame Stadium only twice in that time despite the presence of four College Football Hall of Fame coaches in Frank Leahy, Ara Parseghian, Dan Devine and Lou Holtz. Leahy lost or tied a home game each of his last four seasons at Notre Dame (1950-53), while Holtz lost at least one game at home in each of his last seven years (1990-96). Here are the five longest winning streaks at Notre Dame Stadium: Rk.Streak BeganEnded 1. 28 Nov. 21, 1942 Oct. 7, 1950 2. 19 Sept. 19, 1987 Oct. 6, 1990 3t. 10 Nov. 1, 1969 Oct. 23, 1971 3t. 10 Oct. 27, 1997 Sept. 18, 1999 5t. 9 Nov. 27, 1937 Nov. 25, 1939 5t. 9 Oct. 16, 1954 Oct. 13, 1956 5t. 9 Oct. 3, 1964 Nov. 20, 1965 5t. 9 Sept. 18, 1976 Sept. 9, 1978 5t. 9 Sept. 8, 2012 ?
