ost high school football players
with college potential hope to have
double-digit scholarship offers by the
time they reach National Signing Day
of their senior year, but some of the nation's elite prospects pick up that many
earlier than they could have ever anticipated.
Fort Lauderdale, Fla., wide receiver
Sam Bruce currently holds 15 offers to
play Division I college football, and he
just recently started his sophomore year
of high school. Arkansas, Central Florida, Clemson, Eastern Michigan, Florida
State, Miami, Michigan State, North
Carolina State, Notre Dame, Ohio State,
USC, Vanderbilt, West Virginia, Western
Kentucky and Western Michigan have
all given Bruce the green light to commit to their respective programs if he
so chooses.
The 5-8, 175-pound athlete actually
started receiving attention from colleges
during junior high.
"All these colleges were sending
letters to the house when I was really
young, but now that I'm actually in
high school and playing ball they are
now throwing out the offers," Bruce
said. "The attention is definitely not
something that freaks me out or is new
to me.
