OPENING SHOT
WINNING NUMBER
John Cappelletti poses with members of his family at
a halftime ceremony Sept. 7 during which his number
was retired. Cappelletti, the 1973 Heisman Trophy
winner, is the first Penn State football player to be
so honored. The jersey's current owner, freshman
tailback Akeel Lynch, won't be asked to change
numbers, but he will be the last Nittany Lion
player ever to wear No. 22.
