McGloin makes Raiders, listed as team's No. 3 QB It came as a surprise to just about everyone, except perhaps to the supremely confident Matt McGloin himself. Even his father seemed to have been caught off-guard by the former Penn State quarterback's immediate success in the NFL. "It's surreal to me that this is actually happening," Paul Mc- McGLOIN Gloin told The (Harrisburg) Patriot-News. "My son's a quarterback in the National Football League." Surreal, maybe, but true. Matt McGloin, the Nittany Lions' all-time leader in touchdown passes, made the Oakland Raiders' 53-man roster as an undrafted free agent, beating out former Arkansas quarterback Tyler Wilson, who was the Raiders' fourth-round draft pick. McGloin is playing behind former Ohio State quarterback Terrell Pryor and NFL veteran Matt Flynn. As of this writing, McGloin had yet to take a snap in the regular season. But the fact that he was on a professional roster after only one season under the tutelage of Penn State's new coaching staff did not escape the notice of the national college football media.
