Under the Dome Top of The Class Irish student-athletes excelling on the field and in the classroom Quinn Gleason — Tennis The sophomore from Mendon, N.Y., has yet to lose a match this season. She and senior Britney Sanders knocked off the No. 3 doubles team in the country — a pair from rival Michigan — in September to help cap a successful weekend in Ann Arbor. She was No. 87 in the national singles rankings as of Sept. 23. In her rookie year, Gleason won the team MVP award, an allconference honor and was named a Big East Academic All-Star. Patrick Wall — Soccer The senior goalkeeper has been one of the driving forces behind Notre Dame's rise to No. 1 in the polls early this fall. Wall has lived up to his appropriate last name, allowing only three goals in his first six games of work to help the Irish to a 3-0-3 record. His .875 save percentage ranks 11th in the nation and his goals-against average is 12th. He also has a 3.2 GPA in aerospace engineering. Kelly Curran — Cross Country The Irish senior grabbed first place in her final performance at the National Catholic Championship on Notre Dame's campus earlier this month. Curran finished the race in 17:17.9, a half-second ahead of teammate Alexa Aragon. She finished third at the same meet a year ago before going on to an All-Big East and all-regional season. She's on track to win her seventh varsity monogram this fall and an eighth with the track team in the spring. Jeni Houser — Volleyball Notre Dame's new middle blocker is settling into her role in dominant fashion. Houser set a career high with 13 blocks in a come-from-behind win over Auburn earlier this month. She added 18 kills in the same match. The junior currently leads Notre Dame with 1.02 blocks per set this season. She earned honorable mention All-America accolades last year as a sophomore and is on her way to another strong season.
