PENN STATE Indiana is the only Big Ten opponent that hasn't beaten PSU. In 16 games, only once have the Hoosiers come within a field goal of winning. PREVIOUS MEETING Penn State rolled to a 45-22 home victory on Nov. 17, 2012. But senior All-America linebacker Michael Mauti was lost for the season with the third major knee injury of his college career. THE GOOD AERIAL ASSAULT Indiana's is the most potent offensive attack in the Big Ten. While QB Nate Sudfeld has already eclipsed 1,100 passing yards, five receivers have already reached at least 100 receptions and 1,000 career yards. THE BAD OPEN PLAYBOOK Using 98 total plays, Missouri talied 623 yards of offense in its 45-28 win over the Hoosiers. THE UGLY BROKEN DAM No other defense in the Big Ten surrenders more rushing yards than Indiana. Opponents average 5.1 yards per carry while rushing the ball nearly 49 times a game. DID YOU KNOW? C O M On offense, Penn State and Indiana aren't too different, really. Both are led by accomplished former offensive coordinators who are in their first stints as college head coaches. Both have freshman quarterbacks at the helm, and while Indiana's is more of a spread attack, both run multi-dimensional schemes that use a surplus of pass catchers and contrasting styles of running backs. And, perhaps most notably, both teams have the ability to run a fast- paced, hurry-up offense throughout the game. Both are coming off a well-timed bye week, and on Saturday, they will both will be aiming for a 1-0 start in Big Ten play. This will be Indiana's fifth consecutive home game of the season, and while it has already lost twice, the offense has proven to be effective in Memorial Stadium. The Hoosiers have scored 44.5 points per game and averaged nearly 350 yards through the air.
