Burris attended Raleigh Broughton High and was the first verbal commitment for the class of 2011, and he has loved playing in front of his family and friends. "There is definitely nowhere else I want to play and I have loved NC State since I was in elementary school," Burris said. "To be a part of the Wolfpack, it's the greatest feeling in the world." The 6-1, 206-pound Burris grew up minutes away from campus, but he's learned nuances about NC State that maybe eluded him during the recruiting process. "I didn't know we are such a hard-working group," Burris said. We are going to grind it out, and that's the kind of defense we play." Burris' connection to the school goes deep. His mother, Kerry Davis, and father, Tim- othy Burris, both earned their degrees from NC State. The couple eventually divorced, but both Burris' father and stepfather, Jeff Manley, have been instrumental in his life.
