of retirement to join

enjoyed his tenure

built-up frustration.
Confrontations like this are common at any
college football practice. No big deal. But as this
one began to teeter on the verge of becoming a
full-blown fight, in jumped Mac McWhorter to
break it up.
A former Division I lineman himself, Hamilton
Pierce McWhorter is now 39 years into his coaching
career. He has a few more gray hairs and he's far
from the playing weight of today's linemen. You'd
think a seasoned vet like that, a guy who is reaching
the tail end of his football career, might be putting
himself in harm's way when attempting such a
feat.
