Linebacker Ricky Deberry and offensive lineman Richie Petitbon – both Class of 2015 prospects – are often the top prospects in attendance at any given unofficial visit, and both plan to visit Penn State for it's game against Nebraska Nov. 23. But there could be an even more notable underclassmen in attendance that day. While Deberry and Petibon will receive plenty of media attention, keep on eye on Scotch Plains, N.J., defensive tackle Rashan Gary. He could very well have the most star potential of the group when we look back a few years from now. The Class of 2016 prospect's scholarship list indicates that he eventually could be given a five-star ranking. Eight programs have already offered: Alabama, UConn, Florida, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, Rutgers and Temple. Not a bad list for someone that has roughly 27 months until he signs a letter or intent. "[I have] eight offers right now, but my coach has been talking to everyone, Gary " said. "I know Notre Dame is one school that has been talking to him a lot. There's honestly been a lot [of schools.] I can't name them all, but I'm just honored to have these opportunities right now. " Despite all the opportunities, Rutgers is the only school Gary has visited this season. However, he has attended multiple camps, one of which was Penn State in June. "I really enjoyed everything when I was up there," he said. "The campus and everything is really nice. Coach [Larry] Johnson showed me a lot of good things that day and then they took me all over the place to tour their buildings and meet with coaches. " The relationship he has started with the defensive line coach will play a role in Gary's recruitment as it evolves. "What I really like about Penn State is Coach Johnson," he explained. "We can't talk much, but I really liked getting to know him at camp and I know he's put a lot of guys into the NFL.
