  inside michigan athletics Michigan's Top Olympic Sports Performers Women's swimming alumnus Hannah Smith: A three-time All-American while with the Wolverines from 2006-09, Smith graduated from Duke's physical therapy school and began training for triathlon events while a Blue Devil. After placing second at the Ironman Lake Placid July 28, Smith qualified for the prestigious Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii, participating Oct. 12 in the 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike ride and 26.2-mile run. Wrestling freshman Adam Coon: The No. 1-ranked heavyweight in the 2013 recruiting class, Coon is already living up to his billing, going 7-0 in his first seven matches. Coon was a perfect 4 of 4 to win the heavyweight title at the MSU Open Nov. 9, and then helped the Wolverines score a 2012 upset over No. 12 Oregon State Nov. 17 when he earned a 7-2 victory against OSU's Amarveer Dhesi. Women's basketball junior Shannon Smith: The junior college transfer from Trinity Valley Community College, and one-time North Carolina Tar Heel, Smith has made an immediate impact with the Wolverines, averaging 21.0 points, 4.8 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 2.0 steals in her first four games. Smith averaged 39.2 minutes in those contests, and shot 44.1 percent from the field and 38.5 percent on three-pointers. Women's golf freshman Grace Choi: The rookie finished the Maize and Blue's fall season the team leader in scoring average, recording 76.64 strokes per round. The Dallas native competed in all 11 rounds Michigan participated in over four events, and recorded a top-20 finish at the Edwin Watts Palmetto Intercollegiate Oct. 27-28.
