throughout the past few months. Many believe the Crimson Tide would love to add him as a walk-on, but Barney has indicated he would favor a scholarship opportunity at another school over a walkon invitation from Alabama. He has scheduled an official visit to Penn State for the weekend of the Nebraska game, Nov. 2224, but is expected to wait until the final week or two to see what Alabama decides to do. If Penn State were to strike out with Barney, two additional players to watch are Calvin Heurtelou of Scottsdale Com- munity College in Arizona and Terrell Clinkscales of Dodge City Community College in Kansas. Penn State looks to be a long shot to sign Clinkscales, as he holds more than 20 scholarship offers and won't receive one from Penn State unless he visits campus. Heurtelou also must take a visit to University Park if he wants a written scholarship offer from the staff. It's unclear at this point whether either prospect will take the coaches up on the opportunity to officially visit. Meanwhile, linebackers coach Ron Vanderlinden and defensive coordinator John Butler have been monitoring the junior college ranks in search of potential linebacker prospects, but sources have indicated that it's unlikely the Nittany Lions will take a juco linebacker this year. The staff simply hasn't been able to find a prospect with the right mix of talent and academic potential to meet the team's needs. That also appears to be the case in the secondary, meaning that the offensive and defensive lines will likely be the only position groups that could potentially receive an infusion of junior college talent I in December.
