PRINCETON 2 P. M . | DEC. 14 | REC HALL | BIG TEN NETWORK It's been 17 years since Penn State played a game in Rec Hall, so a lot of younger basketball fans know it only as the site of pickup games and gym classes. That's too bad. With its low ceiling and narrow sidelines, it was a bandbox in the best sense of the word, a claustrophobic little arena overflowing with old-school charm. The Nittany Lions are getting set to reintroduce Rec Hall to their fans, and with any luck they'll be able to recreate some of the magic they enjoyed back in the day. The Lions compiled an all-time record of 514-183 on their former home court, but it was seen as a recruiting liability, so they abandoned it in favor of the Bryce Jordan Center in 1996. But liability or not, Rec Hall had a flavor that modern arenas lack. The "Return to Rec, even if only for a day, should serve as a welcome reminder. "
