pretty much had my mind set on Penn State for a while, up until a couple of weeks ago when I started getting scholarships. So I kind of stepped away from Penn State a little bit and took official visits to a few schools to see who was willing to offer me, who wanted me as a walk-on. "I kind of went from having my mind made up to being undecided again, but then Sunday night [Dec. 15], I just decided to end this, because I knew that Penn State was going to be the best fit for me." August turned down scholarship offers from Temple and Southern Mississippi. He also was offered at least partial aid by Dartmouth, Bucknell, Richmond and Chattanooga. Like Barney, he plans to enI roll in January. PENN STATE CLASS OF 2014 COMMITMENTS* NAME POS HT WT HOME SCHOOL Marcus Allen Saf. 6-1 187 Upper Marlboro, Md. Raines * As of Dec. 19 Brumbaugh looks sharp in title game Penn State saw some of its top 2015 prospects shine in the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association's championship football games, which took place Dec. 13-15 in Hershey, Pa. No prospect had a better performance than South Fayette quarterback Brett Brumbaugh, who completed 18 of 25 passing attempts for 299 yards. Brumbaugh also threw for three touchdowns in leading his team to a 410 victory over Imhotep Charter from Philadelphia in the Class AA title game. In the Class AAA game, the Nittany Lions saw prospects on each team battle it out, as offensive lineman Ryan Bates and linebacker Jake Cooper from Archbishop Wood went up against McDevitt High and its standout running back, junior Andre Robinson. McDevitt held a 7-0 lead up until halftime, but the Vikings once again proved why they're arguably the best team in the state, regardless of classification, rallying for a 2210 victory. Finally, in the Class AAAA state championship game, defensive back John Reid of St. Joseph's Prep in Philadelphia made an impact on both sides of the ball, leading his team to a 35-10 victory over Pittsburgh Central Catholic. – R.S.
