facts have nothing to do with a good story. And that makes me sad, too, for my profession." A number of prominent Penn State football alumni, most notably former Pittsburgh Steelers great Franco Harris, have railed against the NCAA and Penn State's board of trustees. Cefalo has not. "I did one interview... because I was " concerned about the editing, Cefalo said. "I know how it can get with the media, so I did it after Joe was fired. [The CBS anchor] asked if Joe's legacy was tainted, and I said, 'No.' You think his legacy is two national championships and coaching awards, but that's not his legacy. "His legacy is us, his former players, upgrades to the library [and] players who grew up to be productive members of society. A large part of that was Joe, who saw the interview. That's why the Paterno family asked me to give one of the eulogies at his memorial. That was a great honor I for me. " Miami vise Two former Nittany Lions help put the squeeze on Dolphins' opponents ared Odrick and Cameron Wake took different paths to the Miami Dolphins. They were both notable high school athletes who played collegiately at Penn State, but their careers quickly diverged. Odrick became a starter as a sophomore for the Nittany Lions in 2007 and went on to become a two-time All-Big Ten and All-America selection. The Dolphins picked him in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft (28th overall). He suffered a seasonending injury in his first game as a rookie but has been a strong contributor and occasional starter ever since. "I think things are going pretty well for me, said Odrick, who fin" ished the 2013 season with 43 tackles and 4.5 sacks. "I've had some opportunities and made some plays. ... If I can catch Penn State games, I always try to catch them, but it's not always easy with our schedule during the season. I'd like to get back if I have the time, but I haven't been back in over a year. "I was in Pennsylvania doing some things for my charity golf outing. We'll probably change the name, the Jared Odrick Golf Classic Invitational. That's a little wordy for me. It's to benefit first responders, vet- J ODRICK WAKE erans and others who have fallen on hard times who have served our country. And we were able to help some people locally, in Lebanon, Pa. " Wake, meanwhile, had a solid if not dazzling career at Penn State, where he used the first name Derek. He received interest from several teams before the 2005 NFL Draft, but none picked him. Wake eventually signed with the New York Giants but was released before training camp and signed with the British Columbia Lions of the Canadian Football League in 2007. It was only after switching from linebacker to defensive end that Wake's career took off. He had a league-best 16 sacks as a CFL rookie and was the first player named Rookie and Defensive Player of the Year in the same season. He repeated as Defensive Player of the Year in 2008 with 23 sacks and was on the CFL's All-Decade team for the 2000s despite only playing two seasons. After receiving interest from 17 NFL teams and working out for eight, Wake signed with the Dolphins in 2009. While Odrick has made some big plays for the Dolphins during his tenure, Wake has been a force, totaling 51.5 sacks since his debut, including 14 in 2010, 15 last year and 8.5 this season. He missed one game this year and occasionally gets back to Penn State. "I got back last year for the spring game, I think, but I check the scores in the paper and watch them when I get a chance," said Wake, who in December was named to the Pro Bowl for the third time. "It's tough with our schedule, but I watched them beat Wisconsin. Obviously, I have a job that takes up a lot of my time, but I check them out when I get the chance. "It seems like the program's headed in the right direction, but we'll be able to tell more in time. After a couple years and they get past all the sanctions and get a new president and AD in there, we'll see. But I think they're doing all right, under the circumstances. " – DALE GRDNIC
