CHAMBERS' ORCHESTRA
The pep band gets a salute from
Chambers following PSU's seasonopening victory over Wagner. The
Lions won nine nonconference
games but have struggled vs.
Big Ten competition.
I
f Patrick Chambers is to be believed,
high expectations aren't responsible
for Penn State's bumbling start to the
Big Ten season.
Scoring numbers were dramatically
down, opponents' numbers were up, and
the end result was a transformation in character. Penn State dropped its first six games
against conference competition and watched
as its overall winning percentage drifted
ever downward. The reason?
"I think it could be maybe that our top
four guys are squeezing the air out of the
ball a little bit," Chambers said recently,
referring to the tension he saw rising up in
his players.
