270-80 pounds, who are high school bas- ketball players. Because we want speed and athleticism at every position. Michael O'Connor was already committed when you came to Penn State, then you got Trace McSorley a+erward. Can you talk about the im- portance of bringing in two scholar- ship quarterbacks? Although we feel great about Hacken- berg, he was the only scholarship quar- terback in the program when we got the job. So being able to get Michael on board [was big]. He was basically sitting in the meeting groom waiting for me when I got there – he and his family interviewing me to see if he was going to go to class the next day. Luckily for us, when he first came to [the United States] from Canada, he was at the Baylor school in Tennessee and had come to our camp at our previous institution and worked out for us. We were recruiting him, had a relationship with the family so I think that really helped. Same thing with Hackenberg – we had a relationship with him so I think that really helped. Trace McSorley. You look at this back- ground, he and the quarterback who just won the Super Bowl, they're the only two quarterbacks ever [in Virginia history] to take their team to four state champi- onship games. ... He's a winner in every sense of the word, when you look at his statistics and his production. Being able to get two quarterbacks in this class was very important. So now we've got three scholarship quarterbacks for the future and we're going to have build on that in the next class. You guys have four kids in this class coming off a significant injury – Daquan Worley, the Allens, Johnathan Thomas. ACLs, ankles – where are they at? You guys are going to find out real quick we don't talk about injuries. I'm not really sure what you are talking about. All of them are as healthy as they've ever been. They drink lots of milk. They stretch, they stay in great shape, but we will never talk about injuries. That's their business, that's the pro- gram's business and we want everybody that we're competing against to be con- cerned about our entire roster. So we won't discuss injuries and I'm not sure what you're talking about. All of them are as strong, as fast and as flexible and explosive as you can imagine. You should see these guys. Beautiful. Will you allow your recruits to play in the Big 33 game? It's about risk and reward. We're going to support these guys because I want them to have a great high school experi- ence and then go on, but I think they have to take those things into consideration – the kids, the parents, the high school coaches. And just understand, is this game worth the risk of possibly getting injured? Whatever they decide, we're going to support them. I want them to have a great high school experience and when they come to college they have no regrets. That's up to the individual, that isn't my decision. Whatever they decide to do we will support them. F E B R U A R Y 5 , 2 0 1 4 B L U E W H I T E O N L I N E . C O M 11 FRANKLIN CONTINUED FROM 10
