C O M 6 RECRUITING CHAT WITH RYAN SNYDER Is it possible that something unrelated to Lloyd Tubman's athletic abilities complicated his commitment to Penn State? He committed to James Franklin and then toured PSU. From what I've gathered, he feels comfortable with Franklin but just isn't 100 per- cent sold on the school, town, etc., which is fine. State College isn't for everyone. Could you speculate this far out what offensive linemen PSU has a good chance of signing for the Class of 2015 ? I think Ryan Bates is a good bet. I don't think Bates is as high on the new staff's board as the old staff's, so that's something to monitor. That said, I still think he's ab- solutely a take. I think Grant Newsome is still very interested in Penn State. I also think PSU has a better shot with Richie Petitbon than most would think. That said, I get the vibe that Petitbon was higher on O'Brien and his staff than Franklin and his. That's just my opinion more than anything. Do the 2015 offers given by O'Brien still stand? When do you think Franklin's next big wave of 2015 offers starts? No definitely not. That'll work it- self out with time. Also, Franklin's staff just offered roughly eight prospects last week, so I'd say we're in the middle of one of those waves now. Any thoughts that Noah Beh may be switched to D-line? Personally, I think he would prefer to play defensive line. Right now though, they need him along the offensive front. He has potential to be a really good offensive tackle. All the measurables are excellent, so that's where I expect him to start his Penn State career. DeANDRE THOMPKINS WR | 6-0 | 175 Swansboro, N.C. Swansboro NICK SCOTT RB | 6-0 | 190 Fairfax, Va. Fairfax CHANCE SORRELL OT | 6-6 | 270 Middletown, Ohio Middletown JOHNATHAN THOMAS RB | 5-11 | 220 Danvers, Mass. St. John's Prep ANTOINE WHITE DT | 6-2 | 280 Millville, N.J. Millville DaQUAN WORLEY DB | 5-10 | 180 Coatesville, Pa. Coatsville PHIL'S TAKE White has 5.1-second 40-yard speed, benches 360 pounds and can play either defensive tackle position at Penn State. He is likely to redshirt this fall and will work to add about 25 pounds. If he's able to do that, he will be a big asset for Penn State. At Millville, he got excellent penetration from the three-technique position. PHIL'S TAKE Oruwariye should bring some versatility to the secondary. He's got the necessary speed, quickness and ball reactions to excel at the boundary cornerback position, and he also has the size and physical ability to play free safety. Oruwariye provides strong run support, has superb tackling technique and can play press man-to-man defense. PHIL'S TAKE Reeder appears capable of contributing at mid- dle linebacker right away. He has a vertical leap of 34 inches, runs a reported 4.55-second 40-yard dash, benches 350 pounds and squats 525 pounds. In addition, Reeder has great football instincts, a 4.0 GPA, and he will need to be ready to play when he enrolls at Penn State in June. PHIL'S TAKE Sorrell is another 6-6 offensive line prospect with the potential to add 25 to 30 pounds. He reportedly has 5.0-second 40-yard speed and appears capable of play- ing either guard or tackle at Penn State. He's also an out- standing student with a 3.8 GPA. Like most offensive linemen, Sorrell will probably redshirt as a true freshman. PHIL'S TAKE A three-year starter on both offense and de- fense at Fairfield, Scott reportedly has 4.5-second 40-yard speed and a 34-inch vertical leap. At PSU, he could fit in at any number of positions, from running back to cornerback to free safety. I expect him to begin at running back. He gives PSU a versatile threat coming out of the backfield. PHIL'S TAKE Thomas was rated the No. 1 running back in New England. He boasts an exciting combination of power and speed, having run a 4.47-second 40-yard dash. Coming off a knee injury, Thomas will most likely redshirt as a fresh- man, but he should be fully healthy by the start of preseason practice. PHIL'S TAKE Thompkins was rated one of the top punt and kickoff return prospects in the Atlantic Coast Conference re- gion. He's expected to line up as a slot receiver at Penn State. Because of his potential to be an impact player on special teams as a returner, I think it's unlikely that Thomp- kins will redshirt in 2014. CHASZ WRIGHT OL | 6-7 | 310 Woodbridge, Va. Milford Academy PHIL'S TAKE Although listed as a defensive back, Worley is capable of playing offense, having rushed for nearly 1,800 yards as a junior. Because of an ACL injury he suffered in late October, Worley will most likely be redshirted next fall. One of the fastest members of this class, he's expected to begin his college career at the field cornerback position. PHIL'S TAKE An early enrollee at Penn State, Wright mostly likely will play right tackle. His playing weight at C.D. Hylton was right around 300 pounds, but he dropped to under 270 pounds while at Milford in an effort to improve his condition- ing. Now he's over 300 and is expected to play at the weight at the college level. TROY REEDER LB | 6-2 | 235 Wilmington, Del. Salesianum School AMANI ORUWARIYE CB | 6-1 | 185 Tampa, Fla. Gaither
