BY ANDREW OWENS J ust about the only day that has gone right for Notre Dame in the ACC was the first one. On Jan. 4, the Irish played the program's first league game and com- memorated the new era with a thrill- ing 79-77 win over then-No. 7 Duke. Since then, there has been little to cel- ebrate. Notre Dame lost eight of its next 10 Senior Eric Atkins averaged 14.0 points and 4.8 assists in Notre Dame's first 24 games, but the Irish struggled to a 12-12 overall record and a 3-8 mark in the ACC.
