omeday, when it's all over, Maggie Lucas will surely look back with satisfaction at the numbers she put up during her magnificent career at Penn State. How could she not? Hardly anyone in Lady Lion his- tory has poured in as many points as she has during the past four years, and it's not just school history that she's been making lately. She's also been steadily climbing the Big Ten's list of all-time leading scorers. But right now, with her final postseason fast approaching, none of that matters to the senior guard from Narberth, Pa. What does matter? "Wins. That's my biggest focus at this point in my career," Lucas said. "It's all about getting wins, just finishing off strong. Maybe when I look back, it'll be a cool thing to be listed among such unbe- lievable players. It's pretty humbling. But right now, it's all about getting those wins." Lucas has been getting both this year. After a 74-54 victory at Ohio State on Feb. 9, the Lady Lions were 18-5 overall and 9-2 in the Big Ten and had a one- game lead over sec- ond-place Michigan State in the confer- ence standings. Meanwhile, Lucas was averaging 21 points a game, sec- ond-best in the Big Ten. She was seventh in the league in 3-pointers made and 11th in steals, and perhaps most impressive of all, she was hitting 96.4 percent of her free throws (132 of 137), the best rate in the nation.
