HOCKEY (21-12-2)
No. 11 Notre Dame won its first Hockey East Tournament game during its first year in the league. The
Irish defeated Boston University 3-2 March 8 to advance to the quarterfinals, a best-of-three series with
top-seeded Boston College.
Notre Dame beat the Eagles in their most recent meeting, a 2-1 overtime win in the regular-season
finale. Senior goalie Steven Summerhays allowed only five goals during a 5-0-1 stretch to finish the
regular season, which gave the Irish a legitimate chance to earn an at-large bid in the NCAA Tournament.
