BY TOM LOY N otre Dame would like to take two running backs in the class of 2015. George Atkin- son III left early for the NFL this year, Cam McDaniel is entering his final season in an Irish uniform and Amir Carlisle would be eligible for a fifth season in 2015, but he's in the process of transitioning to wide receiver and will likely see time at both positions this year. Notre Dame didn't sign any running backs in the class of 2014, so there will likely only be two scholarship running backs on the roster when the class of 2015 en- rolls in South Bend. Here's a look at six running backs, listed alphabetically, that could end up joining the Fighting Irish. NICK BROSSETTE The 6-0, 227-pound running back committed to LSU on Aug. 26 and publicly remains firm in his pledge to the Tigers. However, he is in commu- nication with the Notre Dame coach- ing staff and will likely take a trip to South Bend this summer or for an official visit during his senior season. L S U b r o u g h t in five-star run- ning back Leonard Fournette in the 2014 class, and that could impact the Baton Rouge (La.) University Lab prospect's final deci- sion. Although he's committed, Bros- sette could end up elsewhere come National Signing Day. Per 247Sports, Brossette is the No. 88 overall recruit in the nation, the No. 8 running back in the country and the No. 5 player in Louisiana. Last sea- son, he ran the ball 279 times for 2,188 yards and scored 37 touchdowns. BACK TO BACKS Notre Dame wants to sign two ball carriers after getting none in 2014
