Penn State lands McLean The sidelines of Beaver Stadium were overflowing with approximately 80 high school recruits prior to the start of Sat- urday's Blue-White Game. Before any of them even took the field, Penn State had landed a verbal commitment from the top-ranked Class of 2015 prospect in the state of Maryland – defensive tackle Adam McLean, who was in attendance. His commitment puts the Nittany Lions' Class of 2015 at 12 members and gives them the No. 1-ranked class in the coun- try, as rated by Rivals.com. McLean, as of this print, had not com- mented on his commitment other than a Twitter post in which he stated he's "OF- F I C I A L L C O M M I T T E D T O P E N N STATE UNIVERSITY." A little over a week ago, McLean's head coach, John Kelley, said, "Penn State is up there as far as schools that he's definitely consider- ing." Kelley emphasized that the regional schools had a distinct advantage, despite the four-star prospect holding offers from all over the nation. Kelley said a strong relationship at a distant program, say South Carolina, Michigan State or Alabama, could pull him away, but McLean wanted to stay within a five- to six-hour radius from his hometown. His recent visits make that clear. McLean has only seen Maryland and Penn State so far this year and hasn't done much traveling otherwise. Rivals.com lists McLean as a strong side defensive end, but Kelley confirmed that all programs, including Penn State, primarily recruited McLean as a defen- sive tackle. "I definitely say he's more of an inside guy at the next level," Kelley said. "That goes for pretty much every school. He's about 6-2, maybe a shade under 6-2. Right now he's about 280."
