PREP PROFILES Although he's ranked as the No. 7 tight end in the nation by Rivals.com, Avon (Conn.) Old Farms prospect Chris Clark may have an argument for being even higher on the list. He has more than 30 scholarship of- fers from Division I schools, includ- ing Alabama, Flor- ida State, Notre Dame and Stan- ford. Michigan is among the schools that have entered the fray, and the 6-6, 245-pounder planned a visit to Ann Arbor April 18. Although he'd previously made a commitment to North Carolina, Clark re-opened his recruitment April 13, with Ohio State and Michigan trips on deck that weekend. "There are a couple of schools I re- ally like and won't be able to visit until later, like Miami and Iowa," he said. "I'll visit those over the sum- mer. Definitely schools like Georgia, Ohio State and Michigan are impres- sive, but nobody is really standing out yet." Many feel that Clark's decommit- ment from North Carolina was sim- ply to clear the way for a pledge to Notre Dame. His family is filled with ND fans, and the Irish have built a reputation for sending tight ends to the NFL. Clark caught 39 passes for 417 yards and six touchdowns as a junior, but his physical skills should see him be even more productive as a senior and once he gets to the next level. He'll get a chance to show off his receiving skills — and some of his blocking acu- men — at the Rivals Five-Star Challenge in Bal- timore June 6-8. " F e w p l a y - ers have seen their recruitment blow up like Clark over the past two months," Rivals. com Mid-Atlantic recruiting analyst Adam Friedman said. "He added a lot of strength and is more explosive in the open field. Clark is not only a solid receiver, but can also block like a throwback tight end. The added strength has helped Clark's ability to stay engaged and generate push when taking on defensive linemen." Deciding where he will take those talents is a tougher proposition. With so many options on the table, he's in no hurry to commit a second time. "All of these schools are great places, and I could see myself at all of them," he said. "It's going to be tough to pick a place. I'll figure it out and make the best decision for myself.
