T he Michigan women's tennis team capped off its stellar regular season with a 7-0 win at Purdue April 20, winning its fifth consecutive regular- season Big Ten title. The Wolverines finished 19-3 overall and 11-0 in conference play to earn the top seed at the Big Ten Tournament, which was slated for April 25-27 in Evanston, Ill. "I am just really happy for the girls," Michigan head coach Ronni Bernstein said. "They put a lot of pride into everything they do and worked so hard all year to get to this point. We talked about how we were just going to go one match at a time this year and not look too far ahead of us. It is a long year and you have to put in a lot of work to get to this point. Five in a row is pretty amazing. It really shows how much this group really fights and battles. They play hard for each other and that is really special." After failing to win a conference title for a decade (1999-2009), Michigan has claimed at least a share of the last five Big Ten crowns. During that stretch, the Wolverines are an incredible 51-2 against conference foes.
