New Hampton (N.H.) Prep wing Au- brey Dawkins (6-4, 180, Rivals.com three-star prospect) and were set to take his pledge, as well, if he wanted to offer it. Freshmen point guard Derrick Walton Jr. and wing Zak Irvin, mean- while, will also be asked to make the same substantial gains Stauskas and sophomore Caris LeVert did last off- season through spending countless hours in the gym and weight room. Walton and Irvin join LeVert, re- serve junior point guard Spike Al- brecht and redshirt junior forward Max Bielfeldt as the only returning Wolverines with meaningful playing time besides McGary. "I'm very confident they'll follow [Stauskas' and Robinson's] exam- ple," Beilein said of his returnees. "I've loved what I've seen in post- season workouts. I think they are ex- cited. Nobody wants to see players leave, but there's an excitement that there are a lot of shots and minutes available again. "I also think they have watched how hard Nik and Glenn worked over the last couple years. We men- tioned Tim and Trey several times to our team this year, what's their mindset in a pickup game and how they were working in practice very day. How many shots did Nik take a week? Those are things that will carry over. Guys like Caris and Spike will be tremendous leaders of telling everybody, 'This is the way we do things at Michigan.'" Sophomore big man Mitch McGary missed much of this season due to injury, but his return next year would be a boon for the Wolverines. PHOTO BY PER KJELDSEN
