22 / 1 Odds given by Las Vegas' Bovada on Notre Dame senior quarterback Everett Golson winning the 2014 Heisman Trophy — even though he was not officially declared the starter at the end of spring. Florida State QB Jameis Winston is the favorite to repeat at 12/5. Five other quarterbacks were ahead of Golson: Oregon's Marcus Mariota (5/1), Ohio State's Braxton Miller (11/2), Baylor's Bryce Petty (9/1), UCLA's Brett Hundley (14/1) and Michigan State's Connor Cook (18/1). Only 23 players were named. 40 / 1 Post-spring odds by Bovada on Notre Dame winning the 2014 national title, tying it with two opponents, Arizona State and Michigan, plus Florida and Texas. Sixteen other teams are listed with better odds than Notre Dame, led by a po- tential four-team College Football Playoff of Florida State (9/2), Alabama (6/1), Oregon (13/2) and Ohio State (9-1). 61 Years it took since his retirement for former Notre Dame head coach Frank Leahy (1941-43, 1946-53) to be inducted into the Indiana Football Hall of Fame, which finally occurred May 16. Leahy, who died in 1973, was 87-11-9 with six unbeaten seasons and four national titles during his 11 seasons. Other Notre Dame football coaches inducted prior to him, including assistants, were Moose Krause ('74) Knute Rockne ('77) Ara Parseghian ('84), Tom Pagna (2008) and Lou Holtz (2010). Also inducted into this year's class were former Notre Dame assistant coach Brian Boulac (1970-82) and for- mer Notre Dame offensive lineman Mike Rosenthal (1995-98), who played at nearby Penn High School. $75 million donated by 1969 Notre Dame alumnus John W. "Jay" Jordan, an announce- ment made May 2. Jordan has donated a record $150 million to the school, with the latest largesse, the largest in school history, to create a new research program in science and technology. "Although I am not very knowledgeable in the technology sector, I know how important it is for our country to maintain leadership in state-of-the-art technology," Jordan said. "It is not only critical for socioeconomic reasons but national security as well." $712 million Notre Dame is estimating it will spend during the next five years on new construction and renovations projects. This is highlighted by the $400 million Campus Crossroads Project, which will include adding three new academic buildings to Notre Dame Stadium's facade, and installing FieldTurf and premium seating, among other projects. Later this year, a $40 million renovation of the 50-year-old Hesburgh Memorial Library will commence.
