Physically, the 6-1¼, 204-pound Brent evokes comparisons to current backup Sam linebacker Onwualu, who excelled on special teams and was a physical presence as a blocker while making two catches for 34 yards last year. A similar role might await Brent this year, although Onwualu was a little more polished. "It's a big world for him right now," Notre Dame offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach Mike Denbrock said of Brent near the end of spring. "You've heard the phrase before: drinking through a fire hose. He is literally drowning at times with in- formation and overload.
