◆ June 7, 1966 — The baseball team produced its first-
ever MLB Draft pick when left-handed pitcher Edward Turn-
bull was drafted in the 17th round by the Baltimore Orioles.
◆ June 1, 2007 — Star tennis player Somdev Dev-
varman ended the year as the No. 1 singles player in the
country. He was the first in program annals to earn the
honor and was ranked No. 1 all year, from Sept. 7 to the
final poll in June.
◆ June 22, 2010 — Rookie runner ROBBY ANDREWS
was named the ACC Men's Outdoor Track Performer and
Freshman of the Year. He was the first to garner both
awards in the same season, and was also named the top
first-year during the indoor track season. He won the NCAA
Indoor Championship in the 800 meters, then placed sec-
ond during the national outdoor meet in the spring.
