JOAN WILSON RETIRES AFTER 22 YEARS Joan Wilson served as gift accounting manager for the Foundation from 1992-2014 before retiring on May 9. Joan was responsible for gift reporting, matching gift submittals, statements, acknowledgements and receipts. Ad- ditionally, she produced the monthly gift reports that tracked all fund raising progress. Joan earned the respect and admiration of staff, the University community and VAF donors for her tireless dedication and exceptional service on behalf of the Foundation. Those who came to know her were astounded by her unflap- pable spirit and ability to remember endless details. We wish her the very best in her retirement. JoAnn Willis was promoted to gift and accounting manager on May 1. She worked for the Foundation from 1992-98 and returned in June 2011 as office administrator. JoAnn is a 1990 graduate of the University of Mary Washington. VAF WELCOMES NEW STAFF Todd Kersey joined the Virginia Athletics Foundation in April 2014 as chief operating officer. In this capacity, Todd works closely with executive director Dirk Katstra to help create and implement new strategies to achieve the Foun- dation's short and long-range goals. Todd also manages functional areas includ- ing budgets, gift processing, suites and events, administration and stewardship. Todd graduated from UVa in 1988 with a degree in history. While a student at the University, he was a member of the JV basketball team. He also earned an Executive Masters of Business Administration from the College of William and Mary. His professional career has focused primarily on marketing, program development/implementation, sales and customer service. He spent the past 24 years at WorldStrides (formerly Lakeland Tours) as director of several areas including marketing, account management, special events, sales and other leadership roles. Kim McKean joined the Foundation in May 2014 as office administrator. Kim is responsible for providing donor customer service and has administra- tive responsibilities that include database management, support for directors, and special event ticketing at John Paul Jones Arena. Additionally, she assists with the overall assignment of tickets and parking for football and basketball. She graduated from UVa in 1991 with a degree in sociology. Kim brings 20 years of operations experience from Ronald McDonald House Charities of Charlottesville. During her time at the House, she served in several ca- pacities as a weekend manager, a House manager, and then as the Director of Operations. i03-7.VAF.indd 8 6/3/14 3:26 PM
