"We relied on them right from the
start of their freshman years," said
associate head coach Dean Duerst,
who has been with Ryan for all six
seasons at Michigan. "They didn't
play like rookies, but even though
the talent was there, they did have
to develop a college game, and they
would learn to play together during
their careers.
"They were different, but different
in a good way because each piece
complemented the entire group.
A 1-0 home win over Notre Dame in the NCAA Tournament moved the Wolverines into the
Elite Eight, where Michigan ended up losing to No. 1-ranked Virginia, 2-1.
