kind of looked at me and was like, 'Yeah,
that's what I was planning to do.'
"I've learned that once it's been sold,
stop selling. But he's excited about doing
it, wants to do it. Has really put on great
size, tested extremely well, and we're
really excited about him at the three-
technique and what he's going to be able
to do at that position."
Not that defensive end was a bad spot
for Zettel. While he may not have been a
full-time starter, he had no problem mak-
ing a signi;cant impact at the position
last season. Of his 16 tackles, six were for
losses, and he had four sacks – the sec-
ond-most on the team. He also had a sec-
ond-quarter interception against Michigan
that he returned 18 yards to set up a Penn
State touchdown. Throw in his frequent
appearances in the opponent's back;eld,
and Zettel had no problem showing o<
the athleticism that earned him playing
time in the ;rst place.
He is hoping to bring that same play-
making ability to the three-technique
tackle spot this fall. The position has been
a launching pad for a number of great
Penn State players over the years, including
Zettel's immediate predecessor, DaQuan
Jones. His teammates believe it could have
a similar impact on Zettel's career. "He's
a great three-technique lineman," fellow
defensive tackle Austin Johnson said. "He
comes o< the ball fast, has one of the
fastest takeo
