sophomore ready for the workload that is
surely coming his way? James Franklin
thinks so. Citing his leaping ability, his
big
hands and "catch radius," Franklin
said he foresees big things from Lewis.
"We need somebody to step into the role
of an Allen Robinson," the :rst-year coach
said, "and he's a guy who can do it, based
on experience and the things he was able
to accomplish this spring."
With freshmen set to vie for most of
the open spots on the Lions' two-deep,
Lewis has become a leader even though
he's only entering his second season of
eligibility. It would be unfair to use Robin-
son's numbers as a benchmark for Lewis
– or anyone, for that matter – but his re-
ceiving totals are almost certainly going
to skyrocket. And catching passes is only
one of his responsibilities. He's also going
to be asked to set an example for his
younger teammates, a job for which he's
been
preparing.
"When the younger guys come in, it's
hard for them to learn the o;ense," Lewis
said. "That's usually how it is. When you
come in your :rst year, your eyes are wide
open, everything is going 100 miles per
hour.
"Some of them come up to me and ask
me, do you have any advice or anything
that will help me to slow things down or
help me learn the playbook easier? A>
