Notre Dame received yet another
commitment from traditional pipeline
Cincinnati Archbishop Moeller High
School in June when four-star defensive
tackle Elijah Taylor committed to the
Irish.
Moeller High School, which sent
quarterbacks Andrew Hendrix and
Charlie Fiessinger (walk-on) to Notre
Dame in the past four years, became
closely connected to the university's re-
cruiting efforts when Gerry Faust built
the powerhouse high school program
before the Irish hired him in 1981.
Taylor considered Notre Dame his
"best fit," and ended a recruitment that
was tightly contested between the Irish
and Ohio State.
"At first, Notre Dame offered, and
they were easily my favorite," said Tay-
lor, who is part of an Irish haul that had
reached 17 commitments in mid-July. "I
loved getting that offer — that was big
for me.
"Then Ohio State came into the pic-
ture and made it really close. Then I
started thinking about things, and I real-
ized that Notre Dame was just the place
for me and would be the better experi-
ence for me in college and in the future."
In addition to the Irish and Buckeyes,
the 6-3, 285-pound lineman received
offers from a number of high-profile
programs, highlighted by Florida State,
