Elijah Burns didn't travel to the Peach
Jam Tournament in North Augusta,
S.C., expecting to commit in person
to the Irish coaching staff. It just felt
right.
Burns, who joined Cortlandt Manor,
N.Y., small forward Matt Ryan in the
2015 class July 19 — the pair commit-
ted during a one-week period — dis-
cussed his recruitment with his par-
ents and coaches before pulling the
trigger.
"Now was the right time," he said.
"I was considering a bunch of different
schools, but I felt Notre Dame would
be a really good fit for me. My par-
ents said, 'Why wait?' So I thought
we might as well commit now and be
happy."
Burns has favored the Irish since re-
ceiving a scholarship offer this spring.
He chose the program over offers from
Boston College, Boston University,
George Washington, Rhode Island,
Seton Hall, Temple, VCU and others.
