ment. Five Irish players (including
O'Malley) were named to the NCAA
Championship All‑Tournament team.
"We're all smiling big smiles," head
coach Bobby Clark said.
With the victory, Notre Dame be‑
came the fourth school to win national
titles in both men's and women's
soccer, joining North Carolina, Santa
Clara and UCLA. The Terrapins and
Irish had faced off in October, when
the schools finished in a 1‑1 tie after
two periods of overtime. Only Vir‑
ginia defeated Notre Dame during the
season.
COORDINATORS DEPART,
BRIAN KELLY EXTENDS DEAL
At the conclusion of the regular sea‑
son, Notre Dame offensive coordinator
Chuck Martin and defensive coordina‑
tor Bob Diaco accepted head coaching
positions with Miami (Ohio) and Con‑
necticut, respectively.
