PREP PROFILES Shreveport (La.) Calvary Baptist Acad- emy signal-caller Shea Patterson has the talent, athleticism and dual-threat abilities that Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly covets in a quarterback. It came as no sur- prise, then, when the 6-2, 195-pounder added an offer from the Irish on May 21. Patterson has a great deal of interest in Notre Dame and plans to visit South Bend before the end of summer. "I want to get up to Notre Dame for a visit," the class of 2016 prospect said. "That's the one school I'm keying on right now. We're trying to take a vaca- tion up to my grandmother's lakehouse nearby and then spend a few days in South Bend visiting Notre Dame. We're probably going to get there toward the end of July or early in August." Patterson holds early offers from Al- abama, Auburn, Clemson, Michigan, Oklahoma, Tennessee and many others, but it was Notre Dame that received the most praise. "I'd say it's probably the biggest offer that I have," the four-star recruit noted. "Notre Dame is already in my top four, so that's a good thing. I have a lot of family in the area, I grew up in Toledo, and the tradition at Notre Dame is huge. It's pretty exciting just knowing that I have the opportunity to play football there." The tradition, ac- ademics and strong football program are all things that have grabbed Pat- terson's attention about Notre Dame. In addition, the depth chart is work- ing in favor of the Irish, as well. "The quarterback situation at Notre Dame is really good right now," Patter- son said. "That's important to me, but it's not the most important factor. I'm not worried about who is at the other schools, since you have to compete no matter where you go, but I was told they are probably not taking a commit in the 2015 class. That is pretty appealing." Patterson, who committed to Arizona during his freshman year, has the Wild- cats, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Clemson and Oklahoma State in his top five. He says will make a final decision in May 2015. As a sophomore, Patterson completed 138 of 223 pass attempts (61.9 percent) for 2,655 yards with 34 touchdowns and only four interceptions. On the ground, he ran the ball 74 times for 241 yards and three scores. — Tom Loy Elite Junior Quarterback Is High On The Irish SHEA PATTERSON ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ Status: Offered Class: 2016 Position: Quarterback Ht.: 6-2 · Wt.: 195 40-Yard Dash: 4.62 247Sports Rankings: No. 65 overall player in the 2016 class, No. 4 pro-style quarterback in the coun- try and No. 5 recruit in Louisiana
