PREP PROFILES Michigan has already reeled in two talented offensive linemen — Law- renceville (N.J.) tackle Grant New- some, who is ranked No. 21 at his posi- tion and No. 199 overall in the country, and guard Jon Runyan Jr., who is rated as a three- star recruit and No. 38 nationally at his position — in the class of 2015. Brady Hoke and his assistants are still looking for a third player in the group, and Zach Robertson could be their man. The recent U-M offeree out of Bell- flower (Calif.) St. John Bosco is ranked as the No. 19 offensive tackle and No. 188 overall player nationally, and is also considered the No. 23 player in California. He could play either posi- tion along the line. "He's a broad kid — not fat, but barrel-chested — and looks like a guard," Rivals.com West Coast re- cruiting analyst Adam Gorney ex- plained. "He mostly plays left tackle for his high school team, though, and really could translate to either one in college." Robertson started as a junior for a loaded St. John Bosco team that sent eight seniors to Division I football, and that has drawn the attention of college coaches. Arizona State, Notre Dame and USC are among the big- time programs that have joined Mich- igan in offering already, but it's an- other school close to his Los Angeles home that's starting to cause him to think about a decision. " R i g h t n o w, UCLA is defi- nitely a numbers g a m e b e c a u s e Fred Ulu-Perry and Andre James c o m m i t t e d , " he said. "That's definitely getting down to the num- bers. I might have to come up with a decision real soon. It definitely affects my timetable. They're in my top three and spots are closing up. I have to make a decision quickly. "I think I might commit before the season, but I have to talk to the coaches to see if I could still take my officials." Robertson has tentative plans to make a visit to Ann Arbor during the football season, but if the Bruins' class fills up quickly enough that he wants to commit before potentially losing a spot, the Maize and Blue might have to look elsewhere for another line- man.
