Penn State is set to host one of the re- gion's top offensive tackle prospects in the Class of 2016 when J.P. Urquidez of Hy- attsville, Md., makes his way to University Park on Saturday. The four-star prospect from DeMatha High visited campus this summer and left with the Nittany Lions high on his board. Since then, he's said that Texas and Bay- lor have a slight edge over the other 14 programs that have offered, making this an important visit for James Franklin and his staff. "Since [Monday], I've been in touch with Coach [Herb] Hand and Coach [Charles] Huff a lot," Urquidez said, referring to Sept. 1, which was the first day the coach- ing staff was allowed to reach out to 2016 prospects via social media and email. "Even before then, we were talking a little, but now they can reach out to me. But they've been talking about building a rela- tionship and getting to know each other more and they also talked about coming up to visit. "So, I went to my calendar and saw I was free for Penn State's game this week. Penn State is only two and a half, three hours away, so we made arrangements to come up on Saturday." In addition to the Nittany Lions, Long- horns and Bears, Urquidez is also consid- ering offers from Florida State, LSU, Oklahoma, Virginia Tech, West Virginia and Wisconsin. At the moment, he's ahead of most players his age when it comes to visits and early relationships, which means he could very well make a decision before his senior season. That makes this visit even more important. "Penn State is definitely up there," Urquidez said. ACer my first visit [in July], I just couldn't wait to get back. I feel com- fortable with the coaches, and then the campus is great, so really the whole thing is a great experience and a school I've enjoyed. "I'm really looking forward to it. Just seeing the stadium when no one is in it is impressive, so I'm excited to see what it's like for their opening [home] game." Urquidez is currently ranked 110th in the nation by Rivals.com. He's the 12th- ranked offensive tackle in 2016 and the fourth-ranked prospect in Maryland. PENN STATE RADIO NETWORK WAEB............. 790-AM.......
