FOOTBALL RECRUITING BY TOM LOY N obody could have predicted such a dominant performance by Notre Dame in the 31‑0 win over Michigan. Many prognosticators believed that the two rivals would play a close, hard‑ fought battle and one side would steal the victory late in the fourth quarter. That wasn't what occurred in Notre Dame Stadium. The Irish put on a show against one of their rivals, and the effort couldn't have come at a better time for the Notre Dame coaching staff. "It was great to finally get out and see a game. It was really fun," the 6‑3, 210‑pounder said. "It was me, my best friend, my two brothers and my parents. I heard a lot of good things, and it lived up to the hype. "The student section was real wild. It wasn't a surprise because Notre Dame is such a major program, and I figured the fans would be really passionate. They really lived up to it. They supported the team the whole time and were really excited to see us, as recruits, during the walk before the game." According to sources close to the situation, Notre Dame is in terrific shape with the elite running back, who rushed 30 times for 482 yards and six touchdowns in a 63‑49 victory over Sachse (Texas) High Sept. 5. He will visit UCLA Oct. 11, when the Bruins take on Oregon.
